Foremens Mutual Benefit Society FMBS membership badge

A scarce circa 1920's 'Foremen's Mutual Benefit Society membership lapel badge', ornate gilded brass example inlaid with white enamel, 'F.M.B.S Founded 1899 Committee' underglaze hand painted title in blue, the reverse with maker's details "G.Kenning & Son London.". Very good condition, retaining original horseshoe style lapel fitting, no cracks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish with sevice wear.

The 'Foremen's Mutual Benefit Society' was founded in 1899, in 1939 it amalgamated with the Staff Benefit Society (founded in 1925) to form the 'Foremen and Staff Mutual Benefit Society' and was renamed FS Assurance Ltd in 1971.
