WW2 Auxiliary Fire Service matchbox cover with Superior Paraffin box

A good original Second World War period celluloid matchbox cover, 'British Made' the front and back displaying a badge representation of the 'Auxiliary Fire Service' with 'A.F.S' below, the spine inscribed with full title; accompanying is an empty wooden matchbox inscribed 'Superior Paraffin Matches' "Trade Mark" 'Made in Belgium' and displaying a Tug Boat on the sea passing a floating bouy. Good condition, some minor foxing, colours remain bright, surface scratches.

In 1941 the "Auxiliary Fire Service" and the local authority fire brigades were amalgamated to become the "National Fire Service".
