Royal Albert Hospital working mens committee badge

A scarce early example of a 'Royal Albert Hospital Working Mens Committee badge'; large circular gilded brass badge depicting a 'Red Cross' on white enamel ground, title surround inlaid with blue enamel, the reverse impressed "Gamage London". Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting, gilt remains bright, small edge knock at 10 o'clock, otherwise enamel perfect.

In the early 1900 a large proportion of hospital fundings came from working men’s associations, so much that a representative of the club was given the unusual honour of being elected to the hospital committee.
