RAF No 3 Battle of Britain Squadron 1948 silver Royal Air Force badge

A rare original 1940's 'RAF No 3 Battle of Britain Squadron' fine quality large silver and enamel badge, depicting a cockatrice, with Latin motto "Tertius primus erit" (The third shall be the first), the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1948 and maker's details "Thomas Fattorini Limited Birmingham". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, an excellent example.
