Surrey Motor Racing Car Club members badge
A rare original circa 1930's lapel badge for the 'Surrey Motor Racing Car Club', gilt metal shield inlaid with cream enamel, depicting a motor racing car picked out in blue, surmounted by title scrolls "Surrey" "M.R.C.C.". Very good condition, retaining original buttonhole fitting, perfect enamel, gilt remains bright. An excellent example.
Height 21mm.
Brooklands was the birth place of car racing in Britain. The track and and the first car racing club was the created by 'Hugh Fortescue Locke King', who devoted a large acreage of his Surrey estate, near Weybridge, to his passion for racing.
