SS Duchess of Bedford Canadian Pacific line ships wheel badge

A scarce circa 1940's 'Canadian Pacific Steam Ship Company 'S S Duchess of Bedford' gilt and enamel shipping line company flag ships wheel souvenir badge. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
Diameter 27mm.

The 'Canadian Pacific SS Ltd' ship 'S.S. Duchess of Bedford' was built in 1928 she sailed from Liverpool to Quebec and Montreal on her maiden voyage. During the war she was used to evacuate women and children to Batavia, also as a troop ship and for Prisoneers of War repatriation. She was renamed 'Empress of France' in 1947.
