Imperial Airways gold bullion pilots wing uniform badge

A very rare and exceptionally good early 'Imperial Airways pilot's wing uniform badge', gold wire embroidery on black felt backing, the reverse with waxed black hessian and four press studs to enable it to be easily removed from probably a tropical uniform. Very good condition, bullion remains bright.

Imperial Airways founded in 1924 was merged into the British Overseas Airways Corporation in 1939, later to become British Airways.
