A scarce First World War period 'Royal Aircraft Factory' brass badge with blue enamel "Pro Rege Ac Fide" (Bold for King and faith) inscription, the reverse with maker's details H.B.Sale Ld B'Ham" and official issue number "3860". Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel with minor service wear.
Height 31mm.
Formed in 1908 as the H.M. Balloon Factory, 1911 renamed the Royal Aircraft Factory, later to become the Royal Aircraft Establishment and in 1988 the Royal Aerospace Establishment.
