Stoke Mandeville Hospital nurses badge c1940s
A scarce circa 1940's 'Stoke Mandeville Hospital' gilt badge, circlet 'Stoke Mandeville Hospital' on blue enamel ground, enclosing a Crowned red enamel shield with Latin motto scroll "Do ut des" (I give so that you will give) seated within a laurel wreath. Very good condition, no damage to the enamel, pin bar fitting very slightly lifting to one side.
Diameter 28mm.
During the Second World War Stoke Mandeville Hospital was used to treat military casualties and It was during this time that spinal injuries were first treated at the hospital.
