Primrose League King Edward VII 1902 Coronation badge
A very RARE gilt and enamel badge made for the Coronation of Edward VII on the same style as the Knight's enamel stud badge but with "19" on left arm of the cross and "02" on the right, the reverse impressed "Rd 392238" a registered design and patent date of 1902. Very good condition, original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel, manufacturers flaw to badge not affecting appearance.

In 1883 Lord Randolph Churchill father of Winston Churchill, Sir Henry Drummond Wolff, Sir Alfred Slade and Sir John Gorst formed this Conservative backed league to promote not only the party also National Patriotism and the unity of the British Empire. The motto of the League became Imperium et Libertas", this taken from the famous speech delivered by Benjamin Disraeli the Earl of Beaconsfield in 1879.
