Boer War City of London Imperial Volunteers medal & case
A fine cased scarce medal "In Commemoration Of The Raising and Equipment Of The City of London Imperial Volunteers And Their Service In South Africa 1899-1900".
The obverse depicts a seated central female warrior (representing the City of London) giving the Freedom of the City to a departing Volunteer, in the background a column of marching CIVs.
The reverse depicts a hill surmounted by a tall staff flying the Union and CIV flags guarded by a field gun to either side.
Complete with original gold tooled leather case with cream silk lining with description of obverse and reverse, the medal in moveable framed green velvet surround within the case. Very good condition, minor age wear to case.
